Paso Finos Educate and Entertain at Kohala Country Fair

Date-2011-10-01
This year the annual Kohala Country Fair returned to it's true country roots with a new venue on pastureland just outside of Kapaau town. The focus was on "Paniolo" life, or traditional Hawaiian Cowboy heritage, and good old country fun. The Kohala Equine Education Center had exhibits of Hawaiian saddles and tack, calf dummy roping, veterinary care, and horse riding demonstrations. Our Paso Finos were featured in the round pen, demonstrating their unique, smooth 4-beat lateral gait. Kelly rode Gaucho bareback while holding a wine glass and speeding around the pen at corto and largo! Wally showed off at his quick, tight fino gait, all the while looking very stylish. Miradouro and Gaucho played soccer, and Joe did some trick riding on Miradouro, sitting backwards in the saddle while steering the horse forward! The horses were amazing with all the kids hanging on them afterward. It was fun to also be the petting zoo of the fair. Our boys really loved the attention. We also entered Cappy, our Jack Russell Terrier in the doggie costume contest. He went as the " Biscuit Bandito".
